THE ROYAL SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC'S
MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
Consisting of a Children's Chorus ensemble, music methods classes, and frequent performances, the program is based on
the Royal School of Church Music's "Voice for Life" curriculum, and has been specially adapted for children ages 6-14.
The Royal School of Church Music has established a fun and effective method to help singers of all ages develop their
vocal skills and their understanding of music. The Royal School exists to support and promote singing in churches,
schools and throughout the community.
CHILDREN'S CHORUS & MUSIC FUNDAMENTALS PROGRAM:
The Royal School of Church Music Children's Chorus will rehearse twice weekly, and perform regularly, including
presentations for cooperating churches and organizations. Repertoire has been carefully selected to develop and
enhance children's abilities.
Academic studies are integral to the program, and each week a simple music methods class will emphasize basic
choral singing skills, music fundamentals, repertoire, and music history.
The Children's Chorus and Voice for Life program are open to children of all
faiths and creeds. Emphasis is placed on training the in the Christian musical
tradition, but the program also includes multi-cultural music and integrates
teaching methods from Orff and Kodaly.
The Children's Chorus will be directed by Monika Cosson-Sheppard, an
accomplished classical singer with an extensive background in choral work
and children's choirs.
INFORMATION:
Children, ages 6-14. (Interested people of other ages - please inquire.).
Two classes/rehearsals per week. (Tues., Thurs. 4:00 - 5:15)
Once per month, an evening performance will replace an evening class.

A 14-week session including full academic components.
January 26, 2010 - May 13, 2010 (2-week Spring break mid-session.)
One evening service performance per month. (replaces one class)
One Sunday performance per month.
Additional performances with & for cooperating Churches, Organizations.
SPRING SESSION:
PERFORMANCES:
3/4 hour per week dedicated to academic study of music fundamentals.
Remaining time will be spent in rehearsal and performances.
CONTENT:
SPRING ACADEMIC SESSION - $ 20 per singer materials fee.
